Ballpoint Pen Art

Illustrator Nicole Guice simply blows my breath away with her creation of beautiful, strong women. Her creative process begins with a white piece of paper, her black ballpoint pen, and watercolors. That’s It. With a BFA in fashion design, Nicole reportedly hasn’t “fully embraced the idea of digitally enhancing or completing work.” She feels “illustrating by hand is a dying art form” and I agree with her. Ideas always started with a pen/pencil and a piece of paper; it has since then been replaced, for some, with digital art. I admire her courage and her willingness to create with her own set of rules. There are plenty of male illustrators that are wonderful, but only a woman (in my opinion) knows how to draw and create another woman (no offense). You can view more of Nicole’s work at her website or visit her blog here. Have a great Tuesday :)

Fantastic – it’s great to see people are still holding onto original methods of Art and not enhancing through digital means – separate’s the “men from the boys” – no pun intended :-) My Fav – The Crow Always Knows,Ask Pamela Love

Hey D :) . I love digital enhancing photos, but I also love original no fuss art as well. Her ability to draw a woman is remarkable and her work is really good. I;m glad you enjoyed it D. I hope you and your family have a great day today

    Hey Babygirl
I love the lower left hand dress with the empire waist and low cut bodice (yes I am a straight guy and admit to kinowing these terms) and the resulting cleavage. Just proves that I am a straight guy. I always approve of women displaying her charms to us guys.

    Blessings on you and yours
    John

Hey John :) . I would have never guessed you knew about women’s styles before and that is so cool. And yes I can tell you’re straight with the cleavage comment lol. But I;m glad you liked this art. I hope you have a great day

  4. #7 by foodtable on June 1, 2011 - 11:35 AM

Very talented. Glad she’s still using pen and paper.

    • #8 by Kay aka Babygirl on June 1, 2011 - 1:54 PM

Hey foodtable :) . I agree with you. I wish I could use pen and paper to draw something like this. But I can draw a mean stick figure LOL. I hope you had a great day today

  5. #9 by Katherine on June 1, 2011 - 1:06 PM

Oh pretty. All that with a pen too. At work meetings when I doodle I draw little stars or lame flowers and the graphic artists beside me draw 3D buildings and trees and I get so jealous. Anyway, I also am seriously jonesing for the woman’s hair on the bottom left. I like her dress too! Very cool pick Kay!

    • #10 by Kay aka Babygirl on June 1, 2011 - 1:57 PM

Hey Katherine :) . When I doodle I draw flowers and circles, and all kinds of stuff.. we have something in common :) . And I love their hair as well. Now if only my hair can stay that way because as soon as the humid air hits it.. friz it is girl lol. I’m glad you enjoyed this art :) . I hope you and Greg have a wonderful day today

I so agree how sad it is that so much “art” has turned digital. These drawings are a beautiful vision of the confidence and strength women possess and expressed most likely from that same type of woman.

    • #12 by Kay aka Babygirl on June 1, 2011 - 2:01 PM

Hey Linda :) . I love digitally enhanced art but I also believe simplistic art like this should also be admired just as much. It takes a lot of talent to draw anything like this. I can only draw a stick lady LOL. But the women in these photos are very confident .. I totally agree with you. The one on the bottom left reminds me of me when I’m not taking any crap lol. I hope you have a wonderful day today :) .

I love to draw as well when I was a child and I must brag that I am good with it but I will blame technology as well since I sort of lost that skill because of computers, even now writing in a pad paper is a chore for me. :)

    • #30 by Kay aka Babygirl on June 2, 2011 - 10:21 PM

Hey Raymund :) . I’m only good at stick figures lol so I admire anyone who can draw free hand. I still write in a pad and paper when I want to write some poetry and its fun. You should try drawing again :) . I hope you had a great day today
