Gong Bao Chicken
Posted by Purely.. Kay in The Kitchen on April 13, 2012
On Fridays, I don’t like to cook (because I’d rather relax and enjoy the feeling of not going to work the next day); so I usually order take out. But lately, I find myself wanting to make my own take out recipes at home.. so today’s theme is all about ‘Take out at Home“. And I’m starting with this delicious Gong Bao Chicken recipe from Food52. That moist chicken, the peanuts, and the sauce just makes me want to drool on myself with excitement. Sorry for the narrative, but I can’t wait to make this. As I stated earlier.. the temperature/theme here, on this blog is ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs‘, so that means.. another meatball dish to drool over. And who wouldn’t want to make this Japanese Chicken Meatball recipe from Kitchen Daily. These bite sized beauties are packed with flavor, perfect for any day of the year, and.. they look so pretty (laughs). Hey, I know I’m not the only one who sees pretty looking food and gets hungry (smiles). View the ingredient list below and click the link for the recipe. Happy Friday

Grilled Maple-Mustard Chicken Wings

Everyone knows, one of my ‘favorite foods‘, is chicken. And there’s nothing I love more than a great chicken wing recipe.. that’s why I will be making this Grilled Maple-Mustard Chicken Wing dish from Chow. Of course this recipe can be used on any part of the chicken and I can see this being a great appetizer for any party (cost-effective and delicious.. a party host couldn’t pick a better appetizer). And everyone always finds themselves near the chicken wings at any party (smiles). I can’t wait to try this out. View the ingredient list below and click above for the recipe. Happy Friday!

Asian Chile-Garlic Chicken Wings
Posted by Purely.. Kay in The Kitchen on January 27, 2012
Now you know I couldn’t end Game Day recipe month without a wing recipe. This Asian Chile-Garlic Chicken Wing recipe definitely has my name on it.. and will be made (mark my words *laughs*). With so many wing recipes out there, I thought I’d go with an Asian flavor to spice up any game day party. If I had my way, I would make these wings, original buffalo wings, and some teriyaki wings as well. That will be the entire menu in a nutshell. And honestly, I think most men would love that menu (laughs). View the ingredient list below and click on the link for the recipe. Happy Friday!

Baja Chicken and Slaw Sliders
Posted by Purely.. Kay in The Kitchen on January 27, 2012
Today marks the end of Game Day recipe month. But I think I’ve saved the best 2 recipes (in my opinion) for last. Starting off with a healthy option, I love this Baja Chicken and Slaw Slider recipe. I love regular burger sliders, but there are times when I would like to eat a healthier slider.. so this recipe is perfect. I also love that anyone can make this at any time; it’s a wonderful appetizer, a great snack, and of course a healthy dinner option when paired with veggies or a salad. And I can just imagine kids loving this. View the ingredient list below, click the link for the recipe, and stay tuned for one more Game Day recipe. Enjoy

Inside My Kitchen
Posted by Purely.. Kay in My Diary, The Kitchen on January 14, 2012
….. Well, you won’t be going inside my kitchen per say (I wanted to take photos, but my kitchen is not camera ready yet *laughs*), but you will see photos of my favorite dishes to make and eat .. any day of the week (twice if there are leftovers). As you all know, I decided to have a pre-birthday celebration with you and share my favorite things (each Saturday before my birthday). There are so many dishes I love to make/eat.. but these dishes, as simple as some of them are, make me happy the most. So… here are my favorite go-to’s.
* 1st photo: I LOVE Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad.. it just makes me happy.
* 2nd photo: Yes, that’s a photo of my cast iron pan (passed down from 5 generations), with chicken quarters, seasoned with a no salt blend of spices, along with garlic and pepper. I love baked chicken.
* 3rd photo: My bowl of Shrimp Fettuccine, makes my day (smiles). I have made a healthier rendition of this dish, but I go back to the original recipe sometimes (smiles).
* 4th photo: Here’s a story.. my first birthday cake, my mother bought for me, was made by a sweet, older southern woman.. from scratch. She knew I LOVED chocolate, so she decided to add a hard frosting on top. And ever since that day.. I only crave THAT CAKE. Sure I’ll eat other cakes, but they never measure up to her cake. And I’m still trying to replicate her genius.
