Style.. with Watercolors
Posted by Purely.. Kay in Art on May 22, 2012
The one thing you can do to personalize your home, in my opinion, is to have artwork on your walls. And not all art is expensive. Artist Jessica Durrant creates beautiful illustrations that are whimsical, fun, and alluring. From her silhouettes of a woman, to architectural scenes.. her art definitely appeals to me and would be welcome on my walls any day. Her watercolor illustrations start at $18 to $225 if you prefer original/exclusive art pieces (I did say beautiful art doesn’t have to cost you a lot of money *smiles*). Elegance.. without the Fuss

I don’t like a fussy room; you know the rooms that have three different themes (intentionally designed that way) going on that don’t make any sense? Yes, those rooms.. always give me a headache. Designing your space doesn’t have to be complicated.. and you can use the wonderful works of the Mendelson Group as your guide if you like. There’s just something comforting and relaxing about each of their spaces.. elegance without the fuss. As for me.. I love that blue chair within the dark wood bookcases. Click the link to view more. Privacy.. with glass

I’m pretty sure you’re reading this title thinking.. “You can’t have privacy with glass“.. well when you’re dealing with Mexico City-based architects, ARCO Arquitectura Contemporánea, you can. This 7,588 sq ft, two-story home, is stunning! According to the company’s website, the architects made “important changes to give more privacy. Some elements were added to restrict the access inside the premises.” And with the view this home provides, I’d get me a power washer, take care of those windows, and be happy living here (smiles). Boldly.. in Love

I love so many different design elements, but the one element that’s always left me perplexed was.. patterns. I’ve never known what to do or how to do a patterned wall (laughs).. so I found a designer who did. Los Angeles based, Natalie Younger Interior Design company, makes any room feel elegant with a bold touch. Each time I see a photo, of one of their rooms, I begin to say “Wowwwww” a lot (laughs). I know I’m not the only one that does that when you see a beautiful room (laughs). Click the link to view more. Enjoy

Chase House

So this weekend, I got a chance to travel around the wonderful 1st Option site (you remember the website that offers unique locations in the UK for photographers or film/tv crews). As soon as I begin to travel around, I saw and fell in love with ‘Chase House‘. I don’t know if it was the decor, the huge windows that let in a lot of natural light, or the amazing kitchen that made me fall in love with it.. then again it’s all of the above. And did you see that bathtub? Yup.. I could live here and love it. Click the link above to view more photos. Enjoy

Built in 1921

I love old, grand homes. Whenever I see them, I marvel at there grandeur and wonder if they’ve been restored or not. This beautiful old home, located in San Francisco, California, was built-in 1921 and was designed by architect John Louis Field. This 4,230 sq ft three-story home features five bedrooms, three and a half baths, and a two-story great room. It was put on the market back in September for $4,750 million, and then the listing was removed. But of course, I still had to post this.. it’s just so pretty. Enjoy
