Luxury.. and New York
Posted by Purely.. Kay in Interiors on April 11, 2012
The word luxury can be associated with the city of New York.. especially when your home is designed beautifully by this amazing NYC company. Campion Platt designs amazing spaces and each room gives me design ideas for my own home. Yes.. I find myself closing my eyes and dreaming I’m in one of these rooms, overlooking the New York skyline with a cup of tea in my hand, while blogging a new dessert recipe (because I actually have time to bake). Yeah, my dreams are elaborate but enjoy these designs

On the Walls of the Lower East Side
Posted by Purely.. Kay in Art on April 10, 2012
I remember saying, ‘when you walk the streets of New York City, you can find the most incredible art‘.. so take a walk with me. The Mondrian SoHo hotel currently features 120 vintage photos of the lower east side taken by Photographer Sol LeWitt in 1979. This beautiful 20 ft by 60 ft installation entitled ‘On the Walls of the Lower East Side‘, showcases graffiti and other art that was near the photographers home. Sol Lewitt believed walls are public, while books are private; but each provides the same information in different formats. Incredible. Click the links above for more. Enjoy!

NYC’s Low Line
Posted by Purely.. Kay in Architecture, Art on October 2, 2011
Last month, I posted about the above ground park called ‘The High Line‘. Now New York City (The Lower East Side) may have a new park, but this time it’ll be below ground. The newly nicknamed “Low Line” park, will be located in an unused trolley terminal under Delancy Street. Architect James Ramsey came up with the idea to add more green space to the city, while converting another dilapidated area and putting it to good use. This park will feature a ‘remote skylight’ generated from fiber optic cables that filters out harmful UV and infrared rays. Whether this Low Line will be built is up to the Community Board. We’ll see what happens. The top photo to your right is how the structure looks now. Enjoy your Sunday ![]()

100 11th Avenue

I adore this post. This 4,675 sq ft luxury penthouse is located in none other than New York City. Address: 100 11th Avenue, a residential tower designed by French Architect Jean Nouvel in Chelsea, a neighborhood on the West Side of Manhattan. And it’s on sale for a cool $22 million (now would be a good time to win the lottery). Here’s what Douglas Elliman says “..14ft ceilings, two fireplaces, floor to ceiling wrap-around windows, an enclosed loggia terrace, and a jaw dropping 4400 square foot terrace. this 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath home has sleek terrazzo floors and a one of a kind layout designed for entertaining” Click on the link above for more. Penthouse Fun.. with Slide
Posted by Purely.. Kay in Architecture on July 13, 2011
Imagine my surprise (while traveling online), when I found an amazing architectural penthouse right in my own city. This East Village Penthouse Home in New York City, designed by Turett Collaborative Architects, features a slide inside. Yes you read right, a fun, remember your childhood, slide right in the middle of this beautiful home. This stainless steel slide amazingly connects two penthouses to make a duplex 2-bedroom home with identical bedroom units. The slide starts on the second floor near the office in the home, and ends near the living and dining areas below. Can you imagine waking up and sliding downstairs to get some tea or coffee.. that will wake you up (laughs). Click the link above to see the architects & more photos. Enjoy!
