Shades of Blue

When I find great artistic works that I love, to display here, you can’t imagine the excitement that I feel (Yes, I’m a bit of a geek in that aspect but don’t you call me that *laughs*). So I was honored when I found the works of Romanian Photographer Caras Ionut. While looking through his amazing portfolio, I found a number of photos that were digitally edited in this wonderful shade of blue; and each one took my breath away. For me, it’s very hard to believe that he ended his long career as a seaman to pursue photography 7 years ago.. he’s definitely a natural photographer. Click the link above to view more. Enjoy

Reflections

The one thing I didn’t know about myself, when I started this blog, was that I LOVE photography and I can’t wait to take photos of my own. With me being an amateur photographer, I think I can learn a lot from Photojournalist Jonathan Auch. His photos, capture real life moments in time with such raw emotion and feeling. I love just about all of his photos,  but his photos of New York City (tri-state area) really make me smile.. maybe because its home (smiles). I will definitely be featuring his work again. Advice from a Successful Innovator

Sometimes, taking advice from another may deflate your confidence and leave you believing you can’t achieve your dreams. When that happens, listen to your gut and to an innovative genius like Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein, & more. Artist Nuno Filipe Miranda created this project by taking a photo of an innovator, fading the photo into a background, then placing their amazing advice into the photo to inspire us all. Whenever you need inspiration.. make sure to visit this the link above. Wonderful work Nuno Filipe Miranda. Enjoy

Vivian Maier

Have you heard the story of Vivian Maier? The New York Times calls her “one of America’s more insightful street photographers,” but if John Maloof didn’t discover Maier’s images, this all would’ve been different. Vivian Maier was born in New York in 1926, lived in France, returned to New York in 1951, then later settled in Chicago. Maier loved to wander the streets using her Rolleiflex twin-lens reflex camera, snapping photos wherever she went. Taking pictures into the late 90s, Maier left behind over 100,000 negatives and hundreds of  undeveloped rolls of film that she didn’t share with anyone, and many of them she never saw herself.

In 2007, John Maloof purchased a box full of Maier’s negatives for $400 at a local thrift auction house in Chicago by accident (he thought he was purchasing pictures of Chicago’s Portage Park neighborhood). But of course he knew he stumbled onto something wonderful. Now Maier’s vintage photos, of Chicago and New York, have received worldwide attention and acclaim. Here are some of her New York photos during the 50′s. Click the link above to view more photos. Enjoy

Back in November, I featured Photographer Bertil Nilsson’s work; and ever since then.. I’ve been mesmerized by his photos. So today, I’m delighted and excited to share with you more photos from his collection. He is incredibly talented at capturing his subjects contortion like or dance type poses. And to me, each photo is like a unique piece of art, showcasing the intensity and love of each person’s craft. I simply adore these photos. Click the link above to view more amazing photos. Enjoy

Minimalist, Black & White’s

The Oscar’s are over, the winners have been announced, and these beautiful black and white photos will forever stand the test of time. Photographer Gavin Bond shot these prolific black and white photos for Newsweek magazine’s Oscar Roundtable which occurred before the big night. These photos have circulated the web for a month now, which is why I wasn’t going to post them. But seeing them again 2 days ago, just compelled me to write this post. These photos say so much without ever needing words. Read the original article here.. Enjoy
